Record Snow Storm for DFW Coming!

WC is doing yet another update because of the extreme circumstances North Texas will be facing with the snow coming in. As I discussed in my LAST blog, there is a very cold snap coming in of cold weather. That weather is here, and the coldest day can be expected on Monday morning, around -2 degrees for some areas and -15 degree wind chills! When it comes to this kind of weather, it all of a sudden becomes life threatening. A storm like this must be taken seriously.

Winter Storm Warning

National Weather Service has just recently issued a Winter Storm Warning for much of North Texas. This means we could see blizzard like conditions with what they are forecasting … up to 3-7 inches of snow just in this weekend and Monday.

Safety

I would advice heavily that if you haven’t stocked up on food, medical supplies, batteries, and home supplies (think about power loss too), then you should head to the store tomorrow morning or tonight to get them. Road conditions will be messy for the next several days and almost impossible to drive to some areas safely. Stay safe with this article Also Remember the 4 P’s as well…

Remember the 4 P’s

  1. Pets â€“ protect your pets and keep them indoors during this time
  2. Pipes â€“ wrap your pipes in warm towels and cover any openings. If you own a pool, keep your pool running during this time if at all possible and wrap the pool equipment as best as possible in warm towels. There is a huge risk for pipes breaking or pool equipment getting damaged with these low temps.
  3. Plants â€“ whatever plants you still have that are alive through this Texas winter, try to protect. This cold will kill them if you aren’t careful.
  4. People â€“ remember to keep yourself safe, warm, and ready for the cold. Make sure your loved ones are prepared as well with the 4 P’s.

Travel Safety

Just don’t travel. Period. It’s too risky given the Texas roads and the inexperience in some Texas drivers with the snow that could be dangers to you as you make your travel on the road.

Prepare for potential power-outages

Timing

The snow will be hitting most of y’all around Sunday morning and the worst will begin early Sunday afternoon and getting much worse as the night goes on into Monday where the worst will happen. Additionally Wednesday could be a major threat as well with plenty of snow then.

Total Snow fall for the DFW area could be around 4-10 inches, some areas getting heavier snowfall.

I can’t stress this enough… Be Weather aware, be watchful of the forecast, prepare for power outages and pipe issues due to cold weather, and stay indoors if at all possible.

On the other hand, enjoy the snow! This only happens so much in North Texas! Get those sleds before they sell out and enjoy the weather while staying safe 🙂
