Like a lot of you are asking and wanting to know, “what will this winter be like? Will we get snow?“
It is a little too early to figure out if DFW will get ANY snow, but WC does have a good idea on temperature and precipitation outlooks for DFW. While Winter is still far out, many computer models can show us where the best chances for snow will be and where places won’t be seeing snow. Even still, these models aren’t perfect, but they prove to be pretty accurate in general.
DFW Winter Temperature Outlook
DFW is looking at some above average temperatures for the months of Winter (Dec-Feb). About a 33-40% chance of above average temperatures is expected for DFW. At the very least, DFW will be looking at an average Winter. This means a few snow events and a few freezes (to be exact 3 snow days and 5 freeze days).
DFW Winter Precipitation Outlook
DFW is looking at a below average winter for precipitation, which means less chance of snow or ice. There is about a 33-50% chance of a below average winter for precipitation. It is less likely in this case for DFW to have an average amount of rainfall for this winter given higher percentages.
Things could still change a little on the area of coverage and percentages, but it most likely won’t change by much. Given this information, WC will make its prediction;
DFW will potentially have a warmer Winter than average, most likely with below average snowfall
The Week Ahead
By the end of this week, temperatures will drop into the 50’s, 40’s, and 30’s. This will continue for the rest of the week and for the following unforeseen number of weeks after. Fall temperatures will finally hit and stay! Make sure to stay tuned for when temperatures could drop to 32 degrees, a couple days next week could come close. Stay tuned for a freeze watch or a WC alert about a freeze alert. Be sure to dress warm and prepare for the coming holidays!
