Freeze Watch

WHAT – Sub-freezing temperatures between 26 and 32 degrees are expected.

WHERE – Portions of North and Northeast Texas.

WHEN – From late Monday night through Tuesday morning.

IMPACTS – Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation, and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

Remember to practice the 4 P’s before it reaches freezing temperatures Monday and Tuesday night!

Remember the 4 P’s!

Plants – Put heavy warm blankets over your plants. With this extreme cold, your plants won’t stand a chance without proper protection. Take in all delicate plants to keep them alive.
Pets – If you own any pets, do not let them wander outdoors for extended periods of time or be unsupervised! Temperatures this low can be extremely hazardous for your pet!
Pipes – Cover your outdoor pipes properly! Temperatures close to zero can produce more issues than just to your outdoor pipes. Make sure to set all your external faucets in your house or apartment to drip slowly to prevent freezes in the pipeline! For pool owners, make sure to run your pool equipment through these low temperatures in order to prevent freezes! Cover your equipment with heavy warm blankets to provide better protection.
People – Last of all and most importantly, protect yourself and others! Make sure your neighbors have what they need to get through this cold and that they won’t go out during these frigid temperatures unprepared. Minimize trips outdoors and wear proper clothing to keep warm. Hypothermia can set quickly especially with wind chills in the negatives.
