Late this evening, storms could spark up around the DFW area. These storms could contain large hail and an isolated tornado. This scenario is UNLIKELY.
Overnight and into Friday morning before noon, storms will sweep through DFW. The main threats are large hail to 2.5″ in diameter, damaging winds to 70 mph, with a few tornadoes possible as well. There is much higher coverage of thunderstorms for the overnight hours for DFW. Whether they are severe or just strong is less certain. The reason for the uncertainty is because, while storms travel from the the northwest down to DFW, they will slowly weaken and lose their intensity. Just how fast they will lose their intensity is still uncertain.
