In the 6-10 day temperature outlook, parts of North and Central Texas are in the bullseye for potentially experiencing some of the coldest temperatures this next week!
Saturday night into early Sunday morning, the Siberian Arctic blast will move in and plunge temperatures below freezing for North Texas. There is increasing confidence that temperatures will remain below freezing for about 72 hours from Sunday to Wednesday morning. Monday morning Temperatures will most likely be in the teens for North Texas with some areas reaching single digits. Wind chills will be near 0 (some areas below 0) along with 25mph wind gusts.
SNOW CHANCES
There is increasing confidence in winter precipitation on MLK Day through Tuesday for North Texas. Moisture is limited so the chances are still low, however, if there is enough moisture, dry powdery snow will be most likely in North Texas since temperatures will be hovering in the 20’s. Some models indicate more of a significant icing event down in Central Texas and through the coastal region like Houston up through southern Louisiana. Stay tuned
WINTERIZE YOUR HOME
Go ahead and start covering up all your outdoor pipes and covering sensitive plants. Wrap pool equipment if you have any and be sure to run those constantly during the freeze. Leave sink cabinet doors open as well.
Stay tuned as more data comes in!
